"Grow-your-Own" at Springburn Gardens

We are currently working in partnership with Keep well and BTCV to develop our "grow your own" project at Springburn Gardens Allotment Site. The focus is on growing and cooking fresh produce and learning about the environment. The programme currently incorporates work on the allotment site, visits to other projects, planning days, social events and educational workshops.

 

  • Mondays 10am-3pm. Springburn. Transport is not provided.
  • Thursdays 11am-3pm. (BTCV) Transport is not provided
  • Fridays 10am- 3pm. Hamiltonhill Transport is not provided.
GARDENING SKILLS COURSE
Are you interested in learning more about gardening and gaining the confidence to grow your own, be it flowers in window boxes, bulbs at your front door or vegetables in your garden or allotment?

4 x 2.5 hours sessions:

1.  Seeds, Bulbs and Plants
Indoor and outdoor sowing and planting, containers and hanging baskets, plant care

2. Soil Care
Caring for and improving your soil, how to compost

3. Rotation of Vegetable Crops 

4. Wildlife and Design
Gardening for wildlife, companion planting, garden design

Children’s Gardening Club

We run a yearly children and parents summer gardening club to encourage children to learn about growing, wildlife and the environment by taking part in fun activities at our allotment site. Summer 2008 - Saturday's 2-4pm from during School Holidays at Hammiltonhill. To book a place call Laura or email gardens@ngcfi.org.uk

Buses to NGCFI:

First Bus 45 from Central Station, 85 or 88 from Glasgow Buchanan Street Bus Station, all go close to the office.  First Buses 31 and 37 go to the same venue from Glasgow Cross.  Ask to get off at Balgrayhill Community Centre.
