Words of encouragement that we have received

“The project means a lot to me as a local resident, it provides a valuable resource in the community, it has encouraged me to have a healthier lifestyle and I enjoy the opportunity to work with people from different countries. We have a totally dedicated team of volunteers and the project provides friendship, support and training opportunities. It would have a devastating effect on the community if we didn’t get funding to carry on because there are a lot of people who rely on our services” Alex Givens, local resident and volunteer

“This project provides an excellent service to the residents of the north of the city. Evidence shows that there is much work to be done re: healthy living in Glasgow, and hopefully, volunteering and NGCFI can continue to address this.” Alistair Malloy, Volunteer Centre

“The Milton Food Project has worked in partnership with NGCFI on a variety of projects over the years, and has found them to have a clear focus and drive with whatever they embark on.  They have great enthusiasm for partnership working and have contacts with many projects/groups within the North Glasgow area. We want to continue this close partnership into the future with further projects” Annie Dunlop, Development Worker, Milton Food Project

“The Co-op supported the group from the very beginning. Its ethos is such that it is a co-operative project which not only gets into the heart of disadvantaged areas; but also to the most excluded groups within those communities. It is an unique project which makes a wonderful contribution to health, integration and education in the North of the city, one of the most deprived areas in the EU.

Co-operatives are about more than buying food cheaply, they are about developing people’s awareness, skills & confidence to participate in the decisions which affect their lives, which the Co-op is keen to support.” John McKechnie, Scottish Co-op (funder)

“As the Volunteer Development Worker I have found working with NGCFI to be invaluable resource, and I hope they will be able to continue their work for many years.” Sue Harper, Rosemount Lifelong Learning

“Germiston Community Association Management Committee hopes that the services provided by North Glasgow Community Food Initiative continue for many years to come and fully support this organisations search for sustainable funding.”

Pat McDonald, Project Co-ordinator

"The North Glasgow Community Food Initiative is a very dynamic and innovative food project. The developments in this project in the last 1-2 years have been impressive. They have made firm and sustainable links with local partners as well as statutory agencies and their work with allotments, weaning and cooking classes is spot on. A project like this one, is a very important partner for us in Health Board to work with since they have a great understanding of what, how and with whom to work with when reaching people who otherwise would be easy to miss”.  Anné Gebbie-Diben Health Promotion Officer GGNHSB

“Our projects work very successfully in partnership with each other to complement each others aims and objectives and we hope to have the opportunity to continue to do this in the future.”. Community Health Worker, North Glasgow Community Health Project

Good luck on the walk and really hope you can keep the funding going. It´s such a worthwhile project which I really enjoyed being a part of for the time I was there. Andrea (former volunteer)
