We are delighted to hear that a Parliamentary motion was tabled by Patricia Ferguson, MSP after the official opening celebrations of Milton Community and Memorial Gardens (09/09/15). It summarises our work in Milton very well:
That the Parliament welcomes the official openings of the Milton Memorial Garden and the Milton Community Garden; notes that, in 2011, the North Glasgow Community Food Initiative, with funding from Glasgow City Council and the Climate Challenge Fund, devised the Milton Community Garden project; further notes that the Milton Memorial Garden project began in 2014, with funding from the Big Lottery Fund; understands that the community garden gives people from the area a facility to grow some of their own food with guidance from volunteers and that the memorial garden aims to provide an attractive public space; recognises what it sees as the efforts of the community food initiative and the work that its staff and volunteers do across the north of the city, including providing cookery courses, educating people on healthy eating and giving advice on gardening and growing food, and hopes that both the memorial garden and the community garden will continue to thrive for many years to come.
