What we do

We work with communities to empower them to lead practical and sustainable food related activities that improve health and well-being and which support them to build stronger, more cohesive communities.

Current/Future Activities – NGCFI

Our Vision A society where health, well-being and harmony is supported within active communities. Our Strategic Goal To empower individuals and communities to lead practical and sustainable food related activities that improve health and well-being and which help build stronger, more cohesive communities.

We run a range of regular courses and community sessions throughout the year within the communities we work with.

Community Meals

Our community meals are prepared using seasonal harvest from our gardens, as well as Fareshare foods diverted from landfills. As well as a friendly, relaxed environment in which to sit down and share a meal with other members of the diverse Springburn community, our community meals are an opportunity to learn of our other activities in the area, as well as what further activities are happening in Springburn. Partnership organisations are always invited to attend to share their community events, and our Food Hub Group are in attendance, consulting with the community to shape our plans in the area.

Please check back here regularly and follow our social media to find out details of upcoming community meals.

Fruit & Barra

We run weekly ‘barras’ in Milton, where we sell affordable fruit and vegetables, have garden and fareshare produce available, and share details of all our other events.

Please check back here regularly and follow our social media to find out details of where our barras are currently.

Growing

We grow in each of our food hub areas depending on the community interest but we have a large plot in Milton and allotments in Springburn and Hamiltonhill. We encourage community volunteers to come and sow, grow and taste while meeting others in the community.
