Royston Community Cook

As a Community Cook you will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of food based activities including pop-up cafes, and community focused workshops. You will be happy using your cooking skills to plan and prepare large meals using fresh produce, and able to share your skills and enthusiasm through the planning and delivery of cookery courses aimed at improving the cooking confidence and skills of local residents and their ability to make healthy food choices. You will develop classes and workshops which cover topics such as food waste reduction and cooking on a fixed budget, and will have an interest and enthusiasm for sharing diverse cooking cultures and traditions. Funded by Cost of Living Support Fund. 

7 hours per week (£24,101 pro-rata) + 25 days Annual Leave & 12 Public Holidays pro rata + 7% pension contribution to 31st August 2024.

Royston Food Hub Manager

Supporting the local community and individuals in Royston, NE Glasgow through the provision of food education alongside improved access to community pantry, fruit and vegetables, and opportunities to take part in food growing activities. Using community development approaches, develop and maintain local food hub group activities aimed at reducing the impacts of food poverty, improving health and wellbeing and encouraging community led responses. Funded by The National Lottery Cost of Living Fund. 

14 hours per week, (£27,304 pro rata) + 25 days Annual Leave & 12 Public Holidays pro rata + 7% pension contribution to 31st August 2024.

Springburn Community Cook

Funded by The Robertson Trust. 

7 hours per week, (£24,101 pro-rata) + 25 days Annual Leave & 12 Public Holidays pro rata + 7% pension contribution to 31st August 2026.

Sessional Delivery Driver

We are looking for a Sessional Delivery Driver who can work flexibly. You will be able to manage a busy driving schedule of collections and deliveries. The driver will be able to represent the organisation when out collecting deliveries and donations from partner organisations.

Sessional Cook

We are looking for a sessional cook who has experience of delivering cookery courses aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of local residents to a high standard, focused on healthier eating and cooking skills as well as bringing in cooking traditions from different cultures. Inputs on Food Waste, cooking on a budget are also required. Recipes are provided. You will be required to work flexibly to suit the needs of the participants and NGCFI at any one of our Food Hubs or other locations. Classes can be day time or evening, occasionally weekends with courses in Springburn, Milton and Royston.

Sessional Community Gardener

We are looking for a passionate Community Gardener who will be able to assist in the planning and delivery of the community gardening activities. Within a context of a local population living with significant socio-economic deprivation; to work in partnership to actively engage local residents and their families in growing fruit and vegetables and learn about the food cycle, to improve physical activity, health and wellbeing.

Sessional Youth Gardener

You will be skilled in local food growing/ gardening/ agriculture and able to assist in the planning and delivery of youth gardening activities. Within a context of a communities living with significant socio-economic deprivation you will be able to enthuse and actively engage young people in outdoor play, growing fruit and vegetables and learn about the food cycle, to improve physical activity, health and wellbeing. For the most part, you will be working with children aged between 3 and 12 years old.  You will also be required to work alongside volunteers. There is also possibility of related partnership working with a local housing association and nurseries in the area

Sessional Youth Garden Assistant

To support our Youth Gardener and garden team with the delivery of sessions aimed at young people and their families. In particular, we run Teeny Greenies sessions for 0-5 year olds, Young Planters clubs and school holiday activities for 5-12 year olds, and other events

throughout the year for families and local people of all ages.

 

We often welcome visitors from local nursery and primary schools, and other youth organisations. We offer volunteering opportunities in our gardens. This work is based in Milton, where children and young people are living with significant multiple deprivation.

 

Our work with 5-12 year olds is funded mainly by BBC Children in Need, with the aim of nurturing young people, giving them opportunities to make better health choices; to spend time outdoors in nature, and to socialise with others. Our work with babies and toddlers is funded by the Cattanach Trust, with the aim of providing parents with opportunities to spend quality time outdoors with their child.

Join Our Board 

NGCFI is looking to recruit new members to the Board of Directors. The Board is a group of individuals from a variety of backgrounds who are interested in promoting the aims of NGCFI and wish to devote some time into helping the project flourish. The Board ensures that the organisation fulfills all its legal obligations and operates efficiently according to good practice guidelines.
