I’m Tracy and I’m the Youth Gardener at Milton Community Garden. I have a background in art and design and have worked in the field of community development and community engagement for the best part of 20 years.
I’ve worked with children in many different settings over the years, from teaching John Muir workshops and arts and crafts sessions for secondary school pupils, to leading gardening and foraging sessions with primary and nursery school pupils.
I’ve been lucky enough to be the Youth Gardener in Milton for around six years now, which has allowed me to utilise and share many of my skills and passions with our own wonderful groups, and with local school and nursery children.
I love the challenge of making something out of seemingly nothing – from nature crafts and upcycling to firelighting and outdoor cookery with the kids; to foraging on local land and sharing big pots of herbal teas with our local families.
I love being outdoors in nature, and am a firm believer that time spent in wild and wild-ish places is never time wasted and is always good for the soul. I love watching the seasons change and feel privileged to be able to share this love of nature and the elements with the children and families that we work with.
