About the Pantry

Royston Community Pantry is a membership-based shop that provides good food at a subsidised rate. The Pantry stocks fresh, nutritional food including fruit and vegetables, store cupboard staples like pasta, rice, and tinned goods, as well as freshly made snacks and meals, cooked by volunteers in the community.

Anyone can become a member of Royston Community Pantry for an annual membership fee of £1-10 on a sliding scale basis. You can then do a weekly shop for £3.50, which includes an allocated amount of fresh fruit & vegetables, milk, bread, fridge, freezer and pantry items.  Members also have the option to purchase eggs and additional goods for a small fee.

Members are welcome to pay a solidarity price of £4.50 per shop, to further support the pantry and subsidise the costs for other shoppers in the community.

If you are interested in becoming a member, please pop into the Pantry to fill in an application form. Membership costs £1-10 on a sliding scale, pay-what-you-can basis, and we will need to see some form of ID, (e.g. a driving licence, birth certificate or passport) to process your application. You can print out and complete a form at home using the link below, before coming with your ID to complete the application. If you don’t have any ID, please get in touch to discuss other options.

If you are an asylum seeker, or have no recourse to public funds, you can receive a referral voucher for the Pantry from Govan Community Project. Find out more information by calling 0800 310 0054

Donations to the Pantry

Stock for our pantry comes from a variety of sources. Most of our food is supplied by Fareshare, who provide us with surplus stock from supermarkets. The income we generate from membership fees covers our Fareshare membership and allows us to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables and milk.

We rely on donations for all other stock – which is mostly our non-perishable sections – tins, jars, pasta, rice, lentils, toiletries, cereals, tea, coffee, biscuits etc. We are always delighted to receive donations from workplaces and individuals – no amount is too small. Donations can be dropped off directly at the pantry during our opening hours, or we may be able to arrange a collection outside of these times.  Please get in touch to discuss.
